On Sunday 4th October at 6.30am fire crews from Broughton & Agecroft were called to a fire at Salford City Football Club on Neville Rd Kersal. Upon arrival a fire was quickly developing in a single story building used as the club house. The fire crew from broughton entered the building wearing breathing apparatus and began to extinguish the fire containing it to the main entrance area. The rest of the premises suffered sever smoke damage. Upon investigation it was discovered that the fire was started deliberately to a wheelie bin that was close up to the building and quickly spread to the structure. Police were called and attended the incident. Wheelie bin fire are a national problem I would like to take this opportunity to highlight to you the dangers of storing wheelie bins close up to buildings and for house holders not to put out their bins too early and to take them in a soon as they have been emptied.
